Join us Saturday, June 16th at 10:00 AM as we cut the ribbon on our new Intermediate and Beginner Loops at Sykes Park. We will cut the ribbon with City officials from East Point and then go for a celebratory ride and hike. We will meet up at 9:45 at the main parking lot and photograph the ribbon cutting at 10 with City officials. Come out and show your support for trail development in East Point and inside the perimeter of I-285!
This is the first phase of the larger Ride and Fly System which will be a mixed surface MTB route through the cities of East Point, College Park, Hapeville, and Atlanta with a full scale public bike park in the mix.
Phase one at Sykes Park is a 1.25 mile Intermediate Loop that is designed for lap riding. It is rated “more difficult” and uses different build styles from technical sections to flow sections with some hand built trail sections in between.
We also reworked an existing trail in the park to give a beginner experience. The trail is short but fun and can be used to gain skill to hit the other trail in the park.
Phase one of this project was a hybrid build of volunteers and professional trail builders and was graciously funded by a donation from Ethic Inc. an East Point based Branding and Advertising Agency.
Thanks to all who gave their time and money for this project, it truly is a benchmark for ITP trail development.
