On Tuesday July 16th, the Mayor and City Council of Newnan approved a proposal for 2 miles of mountain bike trails along Newnan’s model mile of their new 25 mile PATH Foundation designed greenway project named the LINC.
These new trails will be constructed by MTB Atlanta on City land adjacent to the LINC by the Newnan Centre. These trails will be bike optimized, shared use trails for mountain biking, trail running and hiking. This will be Phase One of the LINC project as more city land will be made available for future trail development.
MTB Atlanta worked with Bike Coweta and the City of Newnan to develop the plan. The Board of MTB Atlanta believes this project fits squarely in our “Ride 20” mission, an effort to create trail and bike park projects within a 20 minute drive of every citizen living in Metro Atlanta. The LINC also creates a model of soft surfaced and greenway trails working together to create a linear park in Newnan that will accommodate all forms of cycling and recreation. We will use this project as a model for future opportunities in Metro Atlanta.
The Board of MTB Atlanta would like to thank the Mayor, City Council, and City Manager Cleatus Phillips for their support and vote of approval for this project. We are excited to bring new recreational opportunities along Newnan’s LINC Greenway project. Dirt and pavement play so well together.
