The Dirt

A Call to Action

Building trail and riding bikes in the woods is a privilege that we do not take lightly. It’s easy to get hopeful about society when you are riding bikes and working on trails in the woods.

MTB Atlanta works on a volunteer basis to bring all people to the woods. We work to increase access to public lands for all people by building “trails for all.” We work so that all people in Metro Atlanta can foster a connection to their natural environment through an activity they love- whether it be mountain biking, trail running or hiking.

In light of the recent tragedy and injustice in the deaths of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, and Breonna Taylor, we have been rattled from our work in the woods.

We realize there are real barriers to outdoor spaces, outdoor recreation and the sport of cycling for people of color. If you would like to help with programming and work on diversity and inclusion in Metro Atlanta to ensure trails, mountain biking and outdoor recreation are open to people of color, then reach out at sorbaatlanta@gmail.com. We’re a group of like minded volunteers working for the benefit of inclusive, diverse and open spaces in cycling and the Outdoors in Metro Atlanta.
